This Privacy Policy explains how Money4Phones ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use money4phones.com, our trade-in service, our wholesale portal, and related services (the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Service.
๐ The short version: we collect only what we need to buy your phone and pay you โ your contact details, shipping address, payout method, and information about your device. We don't sell your personal information, and we never will.
1. Information We Collect
- Information you provide: name, email address, mailing/shipping address, payout method preference (e.g., PayPal or Venmo handle), and communications you send us.
- Device transaction information: device model, storage, condition, carrier, functionality answers, whether the device is paid off, IMEI/serial number, quoted and paid amounts, and order history.
- Wholesale and business accounts: company name, contact details, shipping addresses, order and payment history.
- Automatic information: standard web logs from our hosting providers (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps) used for security and operations. We use browser storage (localStorage/sessionStorage) for site functionality such as remembering session state; we do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the Services: generate quotes, process trade-ins, send shipping labels, perform inspections, and issue payments;
- To verify device ownership and eligibility, including IMEI/blacklist and financed-status checks, and to prevent fraud, theft, and abuse;
- To communicate with you about your orders, offers, revisions, and support requests;
- To comply with law, including responding to lawful requests from law enforcement (for example, regarding stolen-property checks) and meeting record-keeping obligations;
- To operate, secure, analyze, and improve the Services.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only with:
- Service providers that operate parts of the Services on our behalf โ hosting and infrastructure (e.g., Vercel), database services (e.g., Supabase), shipping and label providers and carriers (e.g., USPS/UPS/FedEx and label platforms), and payment providers you choose (e.g., PayPal, Venmo) โ each only as needed to perform their function;
- Law enforcement, carriers, or device-registry services where required by law or where we reasonably believe a device is stolen, financed, or subject to a third-party claim;
- Professional advisors and successors โ attorneys, accountants, and any acquirer in a business transfer, subject to appropriate protections.
4. Data on Devices You Send Us
You are responsible for removing your personal data from devices before sending them (see our Terms and the "Before You Ship" checklist). Our processing includes factory-resetting devices after inspection. Any data remaining on a device you send is processed solely for the purposes of the trade-in and is not retained, mined, or reviewed except as unavoidably incidental to inspection and resetting.
5. Data Retention
We retain transaction records (including device identifiers and payment records) for as long as needed to provide the Services and to meet legal, tax, anti-fraud, and stolen-property compliance obligations, then delete or de-identify them. You may request deletion of your information sooner (see Section 7); note that we may need to retain certain records where the law requires it.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including access controls and database-level security rules that prevent public access to customer submissions. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; you use the Services at your own risk to the extent permitted by law.
7. Your Choices & Rights
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and verify your identity before acting.
- Depending on your state (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or similar state laws), you may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, correct, and to not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no opt-out is required.
- You may opt out of non-transactional emails at any time; transactional messages about your orders will still be sent.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
